Tottenham Hotspur has decided to extend Heung-min Son’s contract for one more year.
The 32-year-old forward’s original contract was supposed to end this season, but now he will stay with the team until 2026. Son joined Tottenham in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen for about £22 million and has been an important player ever since.
In his 10 years with the club, he has played 431 games and scored 169 goals, making him the fourth-highest scorer in Tottenham’s history. This new deal means he will start his 11th season with the team.
Tottenham praised Son, calling him
“a global star and a modern-day great.”
Even though he has had some ups and downs this season, he is still a key player for manager Ange Postecoglou. He did not play in the recent loss to Newcastle, but he is expected to start in the upcoming cup match against Liverpool.
Earlier this year, there were rumors about Son possibly moving to Barcelona, but this new contract clears up any doubts about his future.
Son has also shown strong leadership since becoming club captain in 2023, adding to his legacy at Tottenham.
