Marcus Rashford admits it was an easy decision to say yes to Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old has moved to Unai Emery’s side on an initial loan deal from Manchester United, with a £40m option to make the deal permanent in the summer. Villa are reportedly covering 70 per cent of his hefty weekly wage, while the loan package also includes bonuses for progressing in Europe and for qualifying for the Champions League again next season.

Rashford had been frozen out at Old Trafford by Amorim and the 27-year-old has not played for United since mid-December in the wake of the player saying he wanted to leave the club and had also publicly questioned his professionalism.

After completing his medical and signing his contract with Villa, Rashford took to Instagram and posted a couple of pictures alongside a message which reads:

“I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen.

“I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision – I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the managers’ ambitions. I just want to play football and am excited to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season.”

Rashford has scored 138 goals in over 400 appearances having come through the ranks at Old Trafford and has lifted the Europa League, two FA Cups and two League Cups with his boyhood club.

Now at Villa, he will be hoping to break into Unai Emery’s team as quickly as possible and get himself back on the pitch. He will be keen to help fire the Villans back into contention for the top six as well as advance in the Champions League.
