JUVENTUS LOOKING TO STRENGTHEN DEFENSE
Juventus is on the hunt for an extra defender this transfer window, eyeing options like Ronald Araujo from Barcelona and Kevin Danso from Lens. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club is leaning towards a loan arrangement, but landing their top choices won’t be easy.
Barcelona is reportedly reluctant to let Araujo go on loan. The Uruguayan defender has only played once this season due to a serious hamstring injury he picked up during the Copa América. Since making the move to Barcelona from Boston River in 2018 at just 19, Araujo has racked up 151 appearances, scoring 8 goals and providing 6 assists.
JUVENTUS’ TRANSFER PLANS
The Bianconeri aim to bring in two defenders but are only ready to invest in one. They’re considering Ronald Araujo, Kevin Danso, and Antonio Silva for temporary deals, while David Hancko from Feyenoord is the sole candidate for a permanent signing. However, Feyenoord seems unwilling to let Hancko go in January.
Austrian center-back Kevin Danso was on the verge of joining Roma last summer, but the deal fell through after a heart issue was discovered during medical checks. A minor procedure took care of the problem, keeping him out for six weeks. He’s back on the field now, having played in 12 matches across all competitions.
ANALYSIS: A SENSIBLE STRATEGY
Juventus’ push for experienced defensive help makes sense, as they need immediate reinforcements. While it would be great to snag a player with Serie A experience, the January window complicates things for established players. Araujo and Danso are solid targets, but their fitness and availability could be major hurdles.
