Blackburn 0-2 Wolves: Premier League strugglers score two goals in two minutes to breeze into FA Cup fifth round

Wolves booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a routine 2-0 win over Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers delivered a commanding performance to reach the next round, thanks to quickfire goals from Brazilians João Gomes and Matheus Cunha in the space of two minutes on Sunday.

Vitor Pereira’s men didn’t start particularly well in Lancashire, and struggled to get the ball down and play in blustery conditions.

It was a physical battle, and Blackburn showed more intensity in the opening exchanges. But it was Wolves who broke the deadlock, with Joao Gomes squeezing his effort under Balázs Tóth. Just seconds later, Matheus Cunha doubled Wolves’ lead. Wolves’ quality eventually shone through as they took a 2-0 lead with a pair of quickfire goals.

In the second half, both teams largely canceled each other out, but Wolves managed the game well in the final 20 minutes and were much better in possession. They now await their next opponents, who will be revealed tomorrow.
