Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah moved up in the Premier League’s all-time top scorers’ chart after netting a brace against Bournemouth.

Mohamed Salah has risen to sixth in the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring charts after scoring a brace during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

His double helped Liverpool pass another huge test of its Premier League title credentials with a 2-0 win at in-form Bournemouth, after high-flying rival Nottingham Forest made a statement of its own in a record 7-0 rout.

The Egyptian forward’s two goals saw him leapfrog Chelsea legend Frank Lampard into sixth spot on the all-time Premier League scoring chart, on 178 goals, by converting a 30th-minute penalty and curling in a beautiful second in the 75th on Saturday. His second goal on Saturday was also the 300th of his career. (Liverpool: 235, Roma: 34, Basel: 20, Fiorentina: 9, Chelsea: 2).

Incredibly, Salah started this season in 11th place in the all-time list, with 157 goals. Over the past few months he has overtaken Jermain Defoe (162 goals), Robbie Fowler (163), Thierry Henry (175) and Lampard (177). At his current rate of scoring he is set to overtake Aguero and Andrew Cole and move up to fourth before the end of the season.

Salah goal also added to another incredible record — he is now one of just five players to score 20+ goals in at least five different Premier League seasons. Only Alan Shearer (seven times), Sergio Aguero (six times), Harry Kane (six times), and Thierry Henry (five times) have achieved this feat before.

Salah Reacts to His Achievement

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Salah said:

“It feels slightly different but last season we were the same, the season before we were very close. But we need to stay humble and take each game at a time and we don’t have to think further. Think about each game.

“Scoring goals and keeping on winning, it’s an incredible feeling. But the main target is to win the Premier League with the team. We are moving in the right direction so let’s keep going. Now it’s time to relax and enjoy.

“The defence is incredible. Alisson knows how good he is for us. We’ve played six or seven years together and then one or two in Rome. He works very hard, I’m happy for him.”

What’s Next for Salah?

Since joining Liverpool from Roma, Salah has established himself as a Liverpool and Premier League great, notably winning the Champions League and Premier League since his switch from Roma. The winger is not finished yet either and is targeting more triumphs this season. The Egypt forward now has 21 goals in what could be his last Premier League campaign with Liverpool, with whom his contract is up at the end of the season.

Salah is in the final six months of his contract on Merseyside and is free to negotiate with non-English clubs with the view of signing a pre-contract agreement that would see him join a new team one day after the expiry of his deal.
